Please tell me this is pulley and not something else .. .

Ok, so I had this ringing for a while. It's been off and on, but now it is more frequent. I'm hoping it is just a pulley, Image
sounds like it could be pulley 8

Here's a video of what I hear:

Any suggestions?

hard to tell from that video does the noise fluctuate with rpm's. Take a mechanics stethoscope and place it on the bolt near the pulley's to isolate the noise, if you don't have a mechanics stethoscope, use a long screwdriver and put your ear to it.
It very well sounds like it could be pulley bearings, fairly inexpensive to replace.

I'm willing to bet it's the idler pulley. I've seen a lot of them fail on L36/L67 engines. When they fail, they make a squeak/chirping sound. If you're able to isolate the sound and confirm it (be careful!) don't drive the car before replacing it since you don't want to be driving and lose your serp belt. The fix is easy, IIRC the new pulley is a $15 parts at a dealership parts counter. Just remember it's threaded backwards before you try to remove it.

IMHO they should have never made these pulleys out of plastic, the bearing heats up too much and softens the mount.

EDIT: Just realized #8 is the SC idler pulley. You can just take off that belt and see if the sound goes away to confirm it's #8 and not #3.

These are how the idler pulleys look:

It may be as simple as the metal hat spinning or as bad as the inside metal ring about to blow.
Have you replaced the belts recently? Like the other guys said, remove the supercharger belt and run the engine but also make sure the idler bolt is tight then run the car.

It's my A/C compressor pulley = (
Bad part is, I can't just change the pulley on it because that involves almost as much work as just changing the unit itself.

Replaced:

A/C Compressor:
Price: $260 -- shipped from Amazon
Brand New Delphi OE A/C Compressor

I have Amazon Prime, which gives me free 2 day shipping on all items, or $3.99 next day shipping.

Meineke Installed the compressor for 125 including tax and changed out my 02 sensor which was failing too.

It could have been a lot worse ...
